Summer is the time of festivals and internships of all kinds, the time to relax, cultivate one's mind, take up new practices or go more deeply into old ones. Over the past three years, the Académie Bach has developed a one-of-its kind formula, combining an intensive vocal internship with concerts of one of the most inventive festivals in Europe.Early music, whether it be mediaeval, Renaissance or Baroque, is not exactly of the same nature as that which has established itself in the artistic landscape since the 19th century. It relies on conventions, often unwritten, which can be better understood only through practice. Above all, this 'inside' knowledge gives the listener keys enabling him to listen to music as never before. Therefore, we invite you again this year to a powerful, rewarding experience by participating in the choral singing internship, open to all, or, for the more experienced, by practicing 'one per part' Renaissance polyphony. As for the festival, Bach will have pride of place (hardly surprising!). The morning organ cycle will be devoted to him, and you will also hear both books of The Well-Tempered Clavier, along with the Mass in B minor performed by Vox Luminis. The ensemble Masques will help you imagine what the world before Bach was like, and La Rêveuse will devote a concert to Telemann, his contemporary and friend. Finally, like every year, we shall look to other horizons: chants of the pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela, the Indian sources of La Fontaine's fables, and French music from the beginning of the 20th century.
